September 12th, 2008 was officially my last day with CONEXIS. The last day that I worked for a set hourly wage guaranteed by an American employer. At the end of September my wife and I moved to the southernmost part of Mexico with our two small children. We are currently living out of suitcases. Most of our belongings have been sold or given away as we are only taking what will fit in our truck.
Where are we going? … and why?
My wife and I have always had a heart for children… especially children in latin america. So when Bill and Tammy Woods, the founders of El Faro de Esperanza, offered us the opportunity to join their team in southern Mexico we were ecstatic.
El Faro, “The Lighthouse of Hope”, is currently the home for many wonderful kids that have faced abuse and abandonment. True to their name, the Lighthouse has brought hope to these children restoring both their integrity and identity. We count it a priviledge to participate in this wonderful work. Because we know that when we give to those who can not give back, the Lord will repay us.
